The ultimate Safari 911 pays homage to Porsche’s 1971 works entry in the East African Safari Rally.

No. 0527 of 2500 features the 1971 Rallye Design Package, a tribute to Sobiesław Zasada and Marian Bień’s campaign at the 1971 East African Safari Rally in a Porsche 911. Referencing the most successful 911 chassis to have competed at the Dakar Race.

911 Dakar

Porsche’s first off-road capable 911 since the factory-entered 953 claimed outright victory at the 1984 Paris-Dakar Rally, the 911 Dakar is a genuinely rare and historically significant Porsche. Limited to just 2,500 units worldwide, it represents Porsche’s acknowledgement that the 911 is as capable beyond the tarmac as it is on it. More than a novelty, the Dakar is a fully engineered answer to that idea, raising the suspension by 50mm over the Carrera, with a Hydraulic Lift, fitting Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus tyres, and introducing dedicated Terrain and Rally drive modes as standard.

The powertrain carries over from the Carrera 4 GTS. The 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six producing 473 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque, but the Dakar pairs it with permanent all-wheel drive and a recalibrated chassis tuned for loose surfaces without compromise on road behaviour. Rear-axle steering, PASM, and Porsche Torque Vectoring are all present, making the Dakar one of the most technically complete 911 variants ever offered.

This example shows 1,600 miles and is finished in White with the 1971 Rallye Livery. The wrap faithfully recreates the livery of that car, with high-contrast black graphics and the number 19 on the doors, and a period-correct aesthetic that distinguishes the Dakar from every other 911 in the modern range. Further options include the Race-Tex interior package with Leather features, Sport Exhaust, and the Carbon Matt Interior Package.
